‘Uprising’
This painting is inspired by living in the Northern Territory, the first region in Australia to lift lockdown restrictions due to THAT virus!
In this form of ‘uprising’, it means Territorians can go to the pub and enjoy a beverage without restrictions (other than social distancing), and watch the refreshing bubbles rise up with a new sense of freedom.
However, in the USA it is a time of uprising. A time of civil unrest, rioting and anger from the death of George Floyd, an African American, at the hands of police officers. These protests, under the banner of Black Lives Matter has spread across the USA and is now a world-wide protest movement.
With the lyrics:
It was fitting to name my painting after the Muse song of the same name, that was playing as I painted it!
