About the Artwork – Benedictus
Painted on ANZAC Day 2019, Benedictus honours those who served and sacrificed. The red poppy remembers fallen servicemen and women; the purple poppy remembers the animals who served alongside them. The title refers to the Latin phrase ‘Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini’ — ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’.
