‘Black Hole Sun’ : A Tribute to Chris Cornell
This is the seventh painting in my ‘Rock Gods’ Series which is a tribute to all the male musicians who, even in death, continue to this day to have an impact on me in some way or another either through their extreme artistic talents, lyrics, melodies, charisma, or just who they are / were.
Their music is also very nostalgic for me.
Chris Cornell was best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and primary lyricist for Soundgarden and Audioslave. He also had a solo career and contributed to numerous movie soundtracks, including “You Know My Name” which was the theme song to the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale.
Chris has a very distinctive voice, and he has been regarded as one of the greatest rock singers of all time. I absolutely melt when I hear his husky tones, whether it be in a rock / alternative / grunge song, or in a power ballad.
Vale Chris
